Interested in sharing your skills and time?
We have several opportunities for you to help make a difference.
Holiday Stocking Project
- Brighten the Holidays of over 300 individuals with mental and developmental disabilities, HIV/AIDS and homebound seniors.
- Participate in SUS’ version of Secret Santa.
- Create a personalized stocking filled with gifts for an SUS consumer.
Build a Library
- Donate your gently used books.
- Organize a book drive with a group of your friends or colleagues.
- Visit one of our facilities and help set-up the library.
Gardening/Painting
- Revitalize the interior of some of our residences with a fresh coat of paint.
- Enliven the exterior by weeding, planting and general cleanup of the landscape.
Telephone Reassurance to Homebound Seniors
- Provide comfort and/or companionship to homebound seniors.
- Engage in a friendly conversation that stimulates interest in the outside world and renews the sense that someone cares.
- Make a call once a week.
Writing/Poetry Workshop
- Help individuals with special needs find their voice through written expression.
- Spend one evening (2-3 hours) facilitating a writing/poetry workshop to assist individuals identify and cope with the challenges they face.
