Interested in sharing your skills and time?
We have several opportunities for you to help make a difference.

Holiday Stocking Project

  • Brighten the Holidays of over 300 individuals with mental and developmental disabilities, HIV/AIDS and homebound seniors.
  • Participate in SUS’ version of Secret Santa.
  • Create a personalized stocking filled with gifts for an SUS consumer.

 

Build a Library

  • Donate your gently used books.
  • Organize a book drive with a group of your friends or colleagues.
  • Visit one of our facilities and help set-up the library.

 

Gardening/Painting

  • Revitalize the interior of some of our residences with a fresh coat of paint.
  • Enliven the exterior by weeding, planting and general cleanup of the landscape.

 

Telephone Reassurance to Homebound Seniors

  • Provide comfort and/or companionship to homebound seniors.
  • Engage in a friendly conversation that stimulates interest in the outside world and renews the sense that someone cares.
  • Make a call once a week.

 

Writing/Poetry Workshop

  • Help individuals with special needs find their voice through written expression. 
  • Spend one evening (2-3 hours) facilitating a writing/poetry workshop to assist individuals identify and cope with the challenges they face.
